Friday, 30 June, Reykjavik

Perhaps because of the long dark nights and freezing weather  Icelanders love colourful houses and blooming gardens ( the flowers are magnificent and have a strong perfume , possibly because  , in summer, they benefit  from long hours of sunlight. We take a 'walking tour' with guide Eric-a true Icelander he describes himself, counting among  his ancestors Vikings as well as many other nations.  He takes us through the most meaningful parts of the town and old closed cemetery, wooden houses. public buildings while talking about what makes Iceland special.
How little I know about Iceland. Only  3 million and 400 souls and thriving.  No army,  hardly any police force, free health care, free education (multilingual ) , clean  to obsession and blessed with a free supply of energy(all those geysers).
Of course, we would like to spend more time here but thanks to Eric we feel that we have learnt a lot
about Reykjavik and Iceland.
